I was on a Zoom call with a potential customer recently when the Sporting Director stopped me mid-presentation.
“Jake, hang on. This technology all sounds great, but break it down for me… What am I REALLY buying here?”
It’s a fair question. And one that caught me off guard in the best way possible. Something about the way he asked it made me realize I'd been talking about features when he wanted to understand value.
Sure, Gemini is a mobile-first application that synchronizes your entire squad planning and player trading operation. That’s what it is. But the app is simply a means to an end. What does it actually DO for Sporting Directors? What changes when they start using it? What's the real outcome we're really, truly, actually selling?
I did my best to articulate it on the call. But afterwards, I couldn't stop thinking about it. So I gathered my thoughts and boiled them down to this list:
1. Confidence in High-Stakes Decisions
We're selling Sporting Directors the ability to walk into a board meeting or negotiation knowing they have the complete picture. Not guessing. Not hoping they haven't missed something critical. Not wondering if there's a report or an insight buried in a thread. We're selling the confidence that comes from knowing you've asked all the right questions and gotten all the right answers before committing millions.
2. The Complete Picture
Information isn't the problem—fragmentation is. Your scouts have insights. Your analysts have models. Your coaches have opinions. But they're scattered across systems, emails, and conversations. We're selling the ability to see everything in one place, properly contextualized, so you can actually understand what you're looking at.
3. Freedom From Friction
We're selling liberation from being hopelessly dependent on your IT department, their overworked analyst, or “the one person who knows how the system works.” We're selling you initiative—the ability to get your own answers, on your own timeline, without having to ask permission or wait for a dashboard to get updated. We're selling you independence from technological gatekeepers.
4. Time (The Scarcest Resource)
We're not selling faster access to data. We're selling back hours and days of your life. Time you can spend actually thinking strategically instead of administratively. Time to watch matches instead of chase down reports. Time to build relationships instead of synthesize spreadsheets. Time to be the football executive you want to be, not a project manager hunting for context.
5. The Absence of Regret
At the end of the day, we're selling the ability to say “I made the best decision I could with the right info available”—and truly mean it. Not the version where you're rushing even though you knew there were gaps. The version where you genuinely did everything you could, asked everything you should, and saw everything there was to see. That goes beyond peace of mind—that's professional integrity.
So yes, Gemini is a mobile-first AI platform for squad planning and player trading. But what we're really, truly, actually selling?
The ability to do your job the way you've always wanted to do it—with complete information, complete confidence, complete control of your own destiny.
